The saint's habit of secret gift-giving inspired the traditional figure of Santa Claus. Each year, something peculiar happens on the eve of December 5: Children across Germany each leave a single boot outside their doorsteps, which is then magically filled overnight with chocolate and sweets. We were asked to leave a shoe outside our room overnight - we woke up to Santa Chocolates!
Entering the first of 12 locks - I really enjoy watching the engineering of them! Some we passed in the middle of the night - I would wake up and just watch out my balcony at the marvel of it!
Discovering each Christmas Market was so fun - while they were similar, they were also each distinct with homemade goods, sausage types and pastries! Lets not forget the Gluwein! Its a spice red wine - served hot and in very cute mugs that you can purchase!
